The great commission in Matthew 28:19 is to “Go“.
We must be global Christians because our God is global. The gospel is good news to the recipient if it gets there in time. As God raised up Esther for just such a time like hers we are convinced you and I are called in this generation to take gospel to the unreached!
In this ministry we bring the Good News to unreached people groups in Kenya, specifically the Pokot and Isiolo tribes.
Presently, the people of West Pokot County are our major focus.
Situated in the arid west of Kenya, life here is simple, and very basic.
The locals live in makeshift tents spread-out across the dry and grassy plains. They are also primarily goat herders.
Most of West Pokot’s communities are untouched even with basic development of schools and piped water (via boreholes).
In the light of the gospel, one could rightly call them “unreached”.
Athi River Base is reaching out to the people of Pokot through both community development & evangelistic endeavours.
This is done in partnership with local churches and other Organisations ministering in the Pokot community.
You can get involved too!

It was the 90s and I was 7 and 9 years ago. Just a missionary kid who was living a free life. I helped with chores. I made chapatis on the jiko. I sorted beans, peeled potatos. Used machetes to chop the grass to help keep away snakes. We played football or soccer when the ball wasn't deflated by acacia thorns. The rest of the time we dug holes and played mancala in the dirt with stones. Or went wandering looking for impala, giraffe or elephants in the shadow of LuKenya. My parents taught DTS, leadership training courses, PCYM, led King's Kids and other activities. It was a great experience for our family as well as the many short term missions we hosted.
A great place for training in discipleship and bonus of wildlife experience. Zebras, Giraffes, Warthog and Antelope roams. Truly a great sight and bird watching as well.
A place to know God and make Him known through a holistic Discipleship Training School (DTS) run by Youth With A Mission (YWAM)
YWAM AthiRiver the mother of many YWAM bases/location in East Africa and Central Africa it is a beautiful place to be. They have a game pack on their land where you can see giraffes, antelopes, zebras and many coolest jungle livers. Being part of the YWAM global family they are involved in doing Mercy ministries, training programs and evangelism. You will enjoy your time whenever you visit them. Wonderful hospitality, warm friends from all over the world and environment will capture your attention. With these few words I therefore recommend YWAM AthiRiver as a place to be. Karibu!
Away from the clamour of urban life, this YWAM Base is an ideal getaway for one to be able to detach and zoom-in on the more important things of life - especially concerning Christ & God. Did I mention the abundance of giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, etc just close by in the bush-bush?
