This year, from the 24th-30th July 2019, we desire to have a medical outreach within Machakos County that will serve the people of the community
For the last few years, a week-long children’s camp has been held here at the Base, every August.
There wasn’t one last year, but, there’s one slated for this year and prep has begun for it.
The dates are set: 13th-16th August 2019.
That story starts in 1992 when the first African based LTS (Leadership Training School) was held in Nairobi. Over 200 students attended. The students lived in temporary structures which were built for the LTS. The biggest structure was the lecture hall, which also served as Dining Hall. It was done in YWAM style: “Train as you build”.
Today these 15 students completed Week 2’s teaching on “Hearing God’s Voice”, with Elinor King’ori.
Pray for them as they march forward on this journey!
Next week, it’s the “Nature & Character of God”, with James Chege
Some weeks past, we mentioned the single guys getting ready to occupy the bush house – we’re glad to say that it’s now been 19 days; the guys are in and the place is lit!
Arriving just a few days apart, we were delighted to finally receive Naomi and the Barbosa Family as they joined the staff at YWAM Athi River
These little people went to the People’s Park in Machakos and had what will be a day to remember for many of them – having multiple “first time” experiences…
Midterm break, but the preschoolers (and a few siblings) did come around
From December 2018 to January 2019, YWAM Athi River was priviledged to host the Uni DTS team from YWAM Oslo
It took about 2 hours for Petro & Grace to arrive at Athi River Base, from Nairobi, for their first visit since they landed in Kenya to pioneer a university ministry.
